My review of the book Habits of a happy brain

Dr Loretta Breuning shares detailed information on how to "retrain your brain to boost serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin and endorphin levels"
Each of the four happy neuro-chemicals are discussed at great length with an explanation of their role in the brain, practical suggestions for naturally increasing the levels and exercises to do that can help you identify when these neurochemicals/neurotransmitters have been performing their job!
The book is easy to read with a whole section on the obstacles that prevent us accessing happiness. With awareness of obstacles we can maximise our success.
The brain is wired to seek pleasure and avoid pain, as Dr Breuning explains "good feelings is nature's survival engine" but "unhappy feelings persist no matter how well you meet your needs, because your survival is threatened as long as you're alive." This is where anxiety steps in. I always tell my clients that anxiety is there to keep you safe, so we will anticipate certain situations and potentially overthink them in order to prevent the 'what ifs' from occuring. This book will help to address any imbalance between seeking happiness, but feeling stuck with anxious thoughts and behaviours.
If you are looking to naturally work on increasing happiness this book is a great read and one I refer back to often. If you would like to purchase the book, follow this link: https://amzn.to/42pXH08

Happy reading for a happy brain, Tracey
